TLDR: I was charged roughly $1100 and problem was not fixed [See attached invoice]. I went to separate shop and problem was solved for $125; hence, I don't have much confidence in MINHS as a repair shop. Wanted a BMW certified Shop to service my 2008 BMW. This is my back up car, so i don't drive it much. Drove from Jersey to BK (where I am from) based on this shop's ratings. After diagnostics, was told I needed to Replace battery, change tires so they can ensure that the work they performed would get me through inspection. After $1,125, the problem was not fixed and they wanted another $700 to replace my Purge Valve -- without guaranteeing that the Check Engine Light would come off. I have an Automatic (OBD Adapter) which already told me that I had a Purge Valve issue [OBD came up with p0444 code], and also that repair shops can (and will) inflate price for what is not necessarily a complicated fix. Frustrated, I cut my loses. ~1 week later, my Starter failed-- Starter somehow was not the repair list from MINHS. I asked a friend for a Repair shop recommendation in Jersey where I live. $450 for Starter $125 TO FIX PURGE VALVE ISSUE (again MINHS quoted me $700)- Car passed inspection. [See attached Screeshot of Automatic showing no issues with BMW] .
Thank you for clarifying that it wasn't our integrity or level of service we provided, rather it seems you're unhappy with our repair estimate. I sent you a copy of our conversation. We collectively shared the same expectations that your car would need further repairs, if trouble codes returned. I still haven't heard back from you. Sorry that you had a bad experience and don't have any trust in us, we understand how important it is to trust whoever is working on your car. For this exact reason we are as transparent as possible throughout the repair process. We have a system of documenting every step of our inspections, which after review, I can confirm this process was properly followed in your case. I'd like to clarify that you did receive and view the inspection received the inspection report we performed on your vehicle. In this report we documented that your car came in with 6 different engine systems with faults. We hear horror stories all the time of cars in same this situation. Incidents where unqualified facilities suggest $1000's in repairs ignorantly. Addressing each system individually...when only a battery would fix the concerns. We consider the aforementioned scenario "not trust worthy". I imagine if we were less experienced and did the same to you, or tried to lie or deceive you, then a negative review would certainly be warranted, however this was not the case at all. From our experience, we know an improper or failing battery will trigger a number of false system faults. Looking back at the technician's notes and our text conversations our mutual expectations were clear with more repairs are needed depending on what faults returned. I don't understand how this is "Untrustworthy". Seems more like the other shop reaped the benefit of our knowledge because by simply replacing your battery, we were able to bring the fault codes down from 6 to 1. Thanks again for your feedback, moving forward we'll need to avoid text only communication for such matters. Read less
